Terms of Service of NoemaExtension
Last updated: April 2026 - Version: 1.0
Terms of Service Noema Browser Extension Version 1.0 — April 2026 This agreement applies to the Noema Browser Extension only, not to the Noema desktop application or the noema.tools website.
1. Parties
These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User”) and Paolo Tanzi, Partita IVA IT 02611230349 (“Noema”, “we”, “us”), governing your use of the Noema Browser Extension (“the Extension”). By installing or using the Extension, you accept these Terms in full. If you do not accept them, do not install or use the Extension.
2. Description of the Extension
The Noema Browser Extension is a free companion tool for the Noema desktop application. It extracts the readable content of the currently active browser tab and sends it to the Noema application running locally on your device, exclusively on your explicit request. The Extension requires the Noema desktop application to be installed and running. It has no independent functionality.
3. License Grant
Noema grants you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Extension for personal or professional use, subject to these Terms. The Extension is provided free of charge. No license fee applies. Use of the Extension does not require a Noema desktop license, but full functionality requires the desktop application to be active.
4. Restrictions
You may not: Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the Extension Distribute, sell, sublicense, or transfer the Extension or any rights in it to any third party Use the Extension for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law Remove or alter any copyright notices or proprietary legends
5. Ownership
The Extension and all its components remain the exclusive property of Paolo Tanzi. These Terms grant you a license to use the Extension, not ownership of it. Content extracted from web pages by the Extension belongs to the respective rights holders of those pages. The Extension does not claim any rights over extracted content.
6. Data and Privacy
Data handling is governed by the Noema Extension Privacy Policy, available at noema.tools/legal/privacy-extension. In summary: the Extension reads page content only on your explicit activation, sends it exclusively to localhost (the Noema application on your device), and transmits no data to external servers. No personal data is collected or stored by the Extension.
7. Third-Party Content
The Extension accesses and processes content from web pages you visit. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of extracted content complies with the terms of service of the websites you visit and applicable copyright law. The Extension uses Readability.js, an open-source library by Mozilla Foundation, licensed under the Apache License 2.0. We make no claim of ownership over Readability.js.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Extension is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Extension will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all websites or browser versions. Content extraction quality depends on the structure of individual web pages. We do not guarantee accurate or complete extraction from all pages. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by Italian or EU law.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Noema shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Extension or reliance on content extracted by it. Since the Extension is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed €10.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it from your browser. We may terminate these Terms and your right to use the Extension if you materially breach them. Upon termination, you must uninstall the Extension.
11. Updates
We may release updates to the Extension. Updates are distributed through the Chrome Web Store and may be applied automatically by your browser. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Extension at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Italian law. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Parma, Italy, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you may also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms if the Extension’s functionality changes materially. The current version is always available at noema.tools/legal/terms-extension and on the Chrome Web Store listing.
